Summerlicious!

wintler_park_looking_upstream_2005That title sums up our 75 days of summer pretty well. Today we are going to be a touch on the warm side with temps tickling the 90 mark. I am not a huge fan of leaving the oven door open but many of our fair residents of the Original Vancouver are. If you fall into the “warmer the better” group then, this is your time to soak up the summerlicious weather.

I have spent a lot of time talking up the outdoor wonders in and around the ‘Couv’ and these warm days call out for a trip to the beach. A trip to the beach might mean the Pacific Ocean about 90 minutes west or it could be the Columbia River right here in town.

Wintler Park or Frenchman’s Bar offer soft sandy beaches along the mightiest river in the West. If you want to cool off at the ocean then a trip to either the Oregon Coast or Long Beach Peninsula in Washington is a good choice. Temps are about 10-20 degrees cooler.

Right here at home you can relax along the shores of the mighty Columbia soaking up the vancouver_lake_with_st_helens_2005endless summer sun. Sailboats, pleasure boats, jet-skis and speedboats, barges and ships, yachts and tugs will all make their way past as they ply the waters of our giant river. There is even a nice sandy beach on Vancouver Lake.

I found a couple of pictures online that show the scene well. The maker of the image is shown on the picture.

Get outside and enjoy the best summer weather on earth right here in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest. It’s ninety degrees outside and the ice cream cart is itching to cool us off as the warm sun sends brilliant rays of goodness down upon us.

Ah, the ‘Couv’ Life; it is good.
